Three things in three years

I always make it a point to have a goal within 3 years time... and so far, I have reached my goal every time. Of course, I made sure that my goals are reachable and not out of this world!

So till the end of 2012, I plan to:

[1] upgrade/replace my existing car
[2] take a cruise with hubby on our 20th anniversary
[3] and do something outrageous -- like bungee jumping or sky diving or dog sledding.

Having a bad hair day!

I so hate myself today! I accidentally forget to pull my cellphone out of my pants. And even though I had second thoughts about doing laundry today, I still went through with it and my cellphone took a bath in the laundry. Bummer! My cellphone is just 3 weeks old. Arrrrgggghhhhh... So now I'm back to using my old cellphone. Can't really afford to buy another one right now.

5 jobs that I've had

[1] Accounting clerk
[2] Teller in the bank
[3] Telemarketing
[4] Call center representative
[5] and a MOTHER!

And here's something that I thought every mom should read. Got this from this site --

"Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom."

About Me

I never blog about myself here. I guess I wanted to keep my private life, private.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share some things about me... some random things in no particular order...
    1. I'm a mother
    2. I have 2 kids - a boy and a girl
    3. When I was young, the only chores that I used to do was ironing... because I get to iron clothes with the air-condition running.
    4. When I was young, you will never see me in the kitchen, unless it's chow time. It is just way too hot!
    5. I used to play volleyball.
    6. I hate public speeches.
    7. I was a working student in college. Just for fun, not for the money.
    8. I love to receive roses/flowers over chocolates - as gift from my husband.
    9. I am currently watching the following shows: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Psych, Amazing Race, CSI - Las Vegas and CSI - New York.
    10. My husband was my first and only love. And we're on our 14th year already.
    11. My all-time favorite movies: Sound of Music and Somewhere in Time...
    12. I recently enjoyed watching: The Proposal, The Ugly Truth and Confession of a Shopaholic.
More to come...

If I had my child to raise again

If I had my child to raise again,
I'd build self esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting, and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less, And know to care more.
I'd take more hikes, and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields, and gaze at more stars.
I would do more hugging and less tugging.
I would see the oak tree in the acorn more often.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I'd care less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.

On speed

My son has been asking me for a mountain bike. And I have been deferring this for as long as I could. I know he is old enough to ride his bike on his own, but with his impulsive action and being hyper all the time, I just worry too much. So to buy him a mountain bike will just make me worry more since I know he will speed up on it.

He isn't into the speed like a roller coaster can provide, but he is into speed in things that he has control like biking and skiing. Soon, he might be asking me for sport bike accessories.

Quote by Friedrich Nietzsche

It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.

I believe that the best foundation of any marriage is friendship. And having the same group of friends helps you enhance your relationships. Hubby and I have been best of friends even before we realized that we love each other.

Wacky Web wedding aisle dance

Please take time to watch this video... It's a very unique way of marching down the aisle...

The wedding march of Jill and Kevin. You can read more about it here.

"If you can have that much fun at the wedding, that much fun will carry over also into your marriage,” he told them. “What a great sign and what a great gift."

Finally!

I'm not really much of a jewelry shopper coz you won't see me wearing earrings, bracelets or necklaces everyday. Only on special occasion/parties. But I love rings and wear them daily. I don't even take them out even when I'm washing the dishes or taking a bath. I'm afraid I may lose them if I keep on taking them off.

I've always wanted a diamond ring. And I'm done waiting for my husband to buy me one. It's on sale! Got 35% off the regular price and 6 months to pay, no interest. Really a good deal... so I grab it.

The Builder

My son, on the other hand, loves to build stuff. Even at his age, he still enjoys those little legos. His imagination is wild. If he could hold 3-5 pieces in his hand, he will be fine for the day. He brings them everywhere, even while in car. I think this is a comfort zone for him. You know how the little kids will have their favorite blanket or stuff toy where ever they go? My son will have his legos, even if just a few pieces, where ever he goes.
