Winter is here! And first snowfall brought a lot of accidents already. I haven't tried any of these... I just got this from my inbox and thought that it might be interesting to share...

As we all know, all sorts of variables can have a real and immediate effect on our capability to safely operate our vehicles at this time of year. Unusual as they may seem to some of us – they are really just some very simple solutions, that once applied can make a world of difference to all of our driving abilities. Listed below are these helpful, but unusual hints:

At this time of year, especially with the way the headlights of the vehicles are now designed, the snow/rain & dirt can quickly cause a "film over" of your vehicle’s headlights in a very short time – leaving you with reduced visibility right at the wrong time. The Simple Solution: To prevent this from taking place a simple application of ordinary car wax will keep your headlights clear. Just wipe a light coating of some ordinary car wax onto your headlights. The car wax contains special water repellents that will present that messy snow/water/dirt mixture from accumulating on your lights. Properly done, a single application of the wax to your headlights should last on your vehicle for about 6-weeks.

How about those squeaky wind-shield wipers – and they seem to keep getting worse the more that you utilize them. The Simple Solution: "Squeak-Proof" your wind-wipers with ordinary rubbing alcohol. Wipe the wind-shield wiper with a cloth that is saturated with rubbing alcohol or even ammonia. This one trick can make a badly streaking and squeaky wipers change to near perfect silence and clarity.

The winter conditions will bring both frost and/or ice onto the wind-shields' of our vehicles. Want to be pro-active and ensure the frost or ice won’t affect you in any way? The Simple Solution: Ice-proof your windows using ordinary vinegar. Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water and then spray it on all your windows at night. In the morning they’ll be clear of the icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid which raises the melting point of water preventing the water from freezing.

Also with the ice and frost thing – how many times do you find your vehicle's doors frozen due to ice or frost? The Simple Solution: Prevent car doors from freezing shut with household cooking spray. "Spritz" the cooking oil on all the rubber seals around your vehicle’s doors and gently rub it in with a paper towel. This application of the cooking spray prevents water from being absorbed into the rubber.

With the quickly changing temperatures at this time of year, your vehicles wind-shield fog can very quickly "fog-up" and create an extremely dangerous lack of visibility situation. The Simple Solution: Believe it or not by applying a light coating of shaving cream from a spray can on the inside of your windshields and then carefully wiping it off with paper towels – you can have a "fog-proof" windshield. The shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.

Ever find that your car-door locks have become frozen and you have no way to get in. The Simple Solution: Easily de-ice your car-door locks in just seconds with ordinary hand sanitizer. Just put some hand sanitizer get on the key and then the lock and the problem is solved. Hand sanitizers contain alcohol [the same as lock de-icers]. The small bottles of hand sanitizers are easy to carry and are very much a dual purpose to assist you with sanitizing requirements.
Driving is no different than any other job-task we are expected to perform. The amount of preparation that we take before we start the task, will certainly keep us on track to perform that task in the safest manner possible. As unusual as these hints may seem – they do work and can certainly make our driving safer. With just these few suggestions, we can prepare ourselves for the upcoming transitional winter months and ensure we have a prepared, productive and warm workforce where nobody gets hurt.

I guess at one point in our life, we do have one regret or two or more. For me, I don't treat them as regrets, rather, I treat them as a hard core learning experience. After all, we all learn from our experiences, good or bad. I always believe in my right to make choices and these choices may result in regrets or triumphs. Bottom line is I made the choice and there's no one I could blame it on. It's a choice I made so I have to learn to live with it!

Twilight Saga

When I read the Twilight book series, I was so deeply in love with Edward Cullen... the book portrayed him as the perfect gentlemen, over-protective boyfriend... basically everything about him is perfect!

But as I was watching the movie series, I was so in love with Jacob Black's character especially in Eclipse. Taylor Lautner is a real hunk! I feel like a teenager having a crush.... hahaha... And he can act more than Robert Pattinson.

I also think the Director could pick a better actress for Bella Swan instead of Kristen Stewart. She doesn't know how to act at all.

I know that this is a bit late, but I was just finished watching the first 3 movies. My 2 cents, read the book, don't watch the movie.

Honeymoon

Out of province inspection

A fellow blogger recently moved from Texas, USA to Alberta, Canada. And as a new immigrant in Canada, they are allowed to bring in their car from the US, tax free. And since they are bringing it here by themselves via long drive, they brought it to Houston auto repair shop to have their timing belt and water pump repaired, and of course a full check up as well.

Upon arrival, they had to have their car passed the out of province test. Initially, the first company they approached to have their inspection, failed their car. And wanted to do some repair that would costs them around $3000+.

They then decided to seek another company's opinion, and successfully passed the inspection. They do, however, need to get the black heat installed since it does get below 30s here during the winter months.

For those of you who are in the same situation, do seek a second opinion before you start paying for repairs that may or may not be needed. They just save a lot of $$$.

My daughter loved playing the piano. I was skeptical at first for fear that she might turn out to be like me. I learn to play the piano, but then I didn't get to finished it due to laziness. So now, I now the basic, but can never play a piece.

On the other hand, my daughter had 3 piano recitals already. Though it was short pieces, but still she was able to experience playing in front of the audience with the grand piano.

And since she started playing, I've seen some changes in her. She became more disciplined in practicing everyday, and more responsible too. I was just so glad to have found a piano teacher that comes to our house once a week to teach her.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR , LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE..

If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it . As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage: A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor , and in the back seat B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door..' The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam! If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and then attack.

Dancing as a form of exercise

I used to dance, a lot! Almost everyday when I was in my teens. That is why I am so thin back then and in perfect shape.

I have gained 40 pounds ever since I gave birth to my 2 kids. And I just can't bring myself to go to the gym to workout. I would love to go back to dancing, but times have changed. Music have changed. And I can't seem to keep up with the trend anymore.

Sign of old age? Definitely.

I wanted to learn ballroom dancing, but I can't convince my husband to be my partner. So that is out of the question, for now.

My son just loves KFC chicken and it's gravy sauce. Diamond Ring

I've always wanted one, but I just can't seem to have the nerve to pull out my wallet to actually purchase one. I can always "window shop" for diamond rings, and that was it. This has been part of my "wish list" for the past 20 years!

And there's no point in me waiting for my husband to buy me one, it will be like waiting for the hawk to turn white. Which means NEVER!

But last month, I finally found the nerve to actually buy one for myself! And though there are times when I feel guilty for spending that much $$ on one item, I was also happy that I get to fulfill one of my lifelong dream. Anyway, I was still able to save $$ since that ring was on sale! And diamond never depreciate.

Ever since I saw the movie of Jennifer Lopez in the Wedding planner, I have always wanted to be one. I think that would be a dream job for me since I love weddings. I even cry at my friends' wedding. Call me a hopeless romantic. I so love this movie!

When we decided to get married, with no family around me, I was in charge of everything. And I mean everything! Hubby was nice enough to give in to everything that I wanted. From choosing the church and reception, the style of our wedding cake and ice carving, flower arrangements, the rings, my gown and the entourage's gown and motif, getting all the wedding accessories in order, the giveaways, cutting down the guest lists three times, preparing and sending out the invitations... we didn't have a problem at all. Well, cutting down the guest list was the hardest part because of his extended family!

If only it is possible to get married every year to the same guy, I would do it! Just for the sake of getting married again and again and again!

How do you get rid of office politics? Is it even remotely possible to get rid of it?

I don't want to really say this, but I find that the company that I worked for, the top management that is, is a bit racist when it comes to dealing with their employees. A certain action should have a certain consequence/punishment... but that one reaction can have different consequence/punishment depending on who is involve. Is that fair at all?

And if we try to reason with them, they suddenly lost their hearing. They don't even sound logical anymore. They just need to put the blame on somebody and they need to do it as soon as possible. And the case is closed and they moved on to their next victim.
